LITTLE BIT ABOUT JULIA
JULIA McGOWAN (she/her) is an Irish-American director, playwright, and actor. Born and raised just 20 minutes outside Washington D.C. in Bethesda, Maryland, she spent her pivotal years wreaking havoc on anyone who had the patience to sit through her self-written, self-produced one-kid plays.

Her real love of theater blossomed during her 5th grade production of Charlie in the Chocolate Factory. Her stunning yet outlandish performance as "Oompa Loompa #3" is still highly regarded among the Burning Tree Elementary School P.T.A.

A graduate of the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA School of Dramatic Arts, she received a B.A. Theatre (Acting Emphasis), with an additional minor in screenwriting from the USC SCHOOL OF CINEMATIC ARTS.
During her time at USC, she directed two full-scale university productions (I am A Camera by John van Druten, Dog Sees God by Bert V. Royal), and acted as assistant director to IMPULSE THEATRE COMPANY'SOne Act Festival 2021, where she specifically assisted on Maxwell's Grand Finale by Jennifer Valesquez.

Her passion for theatre is fueled by the excitement of not what is on the page, but what is between the lines; the electricity of a moment. Her passion lies in work that fundamentally embraces human connection, making sense of the world and of each other. Her approach involves a lot of empathy, a lot of love, and lot of organized chaos.

Since graduating in 2023, Julia has worked on projects with PIPER THEATRE PRODUCTIONS and BLUE THEATRE COMPANY.

Upcoming: Downstate by Bruce Norris at CURIOUS THEATRE COMPANY in Denver, CO.
